Irish bodies such as ISD (Immigration Service Delivery) expect any document that is not in English or Irish to come with a certified translation: the complete text in English, signed and dated by the translator, who adds their name, occupation, address and phone number. That is what our Russian to English translation in Ireland delivers, for certificates issued in Russia and for Russian-language records from other former Soviet states.
Most Russian files we receive start with a birth certificate, often needed quickly. One recent order paired an apostilled birth certificate with bank statements for an Irish visa application lodged abroad, and the signed copies had to be couriered outside Ireland. We ask for passport spellings first, because Cyrillic names can be romanised several ways.

Where Russian translations from us are usually sent
ISD's guidance on certified translations sets out what the translator must add: a statement that the translation is true to the original they have seen, a signature and date, and their printed name, occupation, address and telephone number. The original Russian document normally travels with the translation, so keep it safe and send us a clear copy of every page.
This page covers documents written in Russian, wherever they were issued. That includes Russian Federation certificates and also the many records issued in Russian in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Latvia and other former Soviet states, including older USSR certificates printed in Russian alongside a republic's own language.
Documents written in Ukrainian are a separate language pair, handled on our Ukrainian page. If a certificate mixes both languages, send it anyway: we check which text carries the legal content and quote the job once.
Based on the Russian enquiries we receive
New-format and Soviet-era versions, with every stamp and annotation.
The apostille itself is translated as part of the document it is attached to.
Account summaries and balance letters for visa and residence files.
Including registry office (ZAGS) records explaining a surname change.
Degree certificates with the full list of subjects, hours and grades.
Each situation below came up in real requests. The document set changes from case to case, and so does the detail that needs the most care.
A Russian birth certificate is one of the documents we translate most for ISD applications. We render the record number, registry office and both parents' details in full, so the reviewing officer can match every line of the English copy to the Russian original.
Applicants living outside Ireland sometimes apply through an Irish embassy or visa office. We have translated apostilled birth certificates with bank statements for exactly this, then sent the signed copies by express courier to the applicant's country of residence.
Urgent requests are common with Russian certificates, usually because a file is due within days. A one- or two-page birth certificate can often be turned round the same day if the scan is clear and the name spellings are confirmed early.
Russian passports issued since 2013 follow the ICAO transliteration scheme, while older ones used other systems. If your passport says Yulia and an old document says Ioulia, we follow the spelling you tell us and keep it identical on every page.
Kazakh, Belarusian and Latvian civil records are often written wholly or partly in Russian. We translate the Russian text and flag any section in another language, so nothing on the page is left without an English version.
Universities, QQI and employers may ask for an English version of a Russian diploma and its supplement. We keep subject names, credit hours and grading scales exactly as listed, without converting them to an Irish equivalent.
A handful of issues account for nearly every query or delay on Russian documents. None of them are about the language itself; they are about names, stamps and the pages people forget to scan.
Transliteration causes the most rework. One Cyrillic surname can appear in Latin letters in three or four ways depending on the year a passport was issued. We match the spelling in the passport you are submitting rather than applying a standard table.
The apostille is part of the job. Clients sometimes send only the front of an apostilled certificate. The apostille is a separate certificate attached to the document, and an Irish reviewer will expect its text in English too, so we include it in the quote.
Soviet-era certificates need careful reading. Older birth certificates are often handwritten in places, with faded entries and place names that have since changed. We translate the place as written at the time and add a translator's note where a modern name helps.
Mixed bundles go faster when sent together. A birth certificate plus three bank statements is common for visa files. Sending everything at once lets one translator keep names, dates and account details consistent across the set.
These five points save most rework
We copy the Latin spelling of every name from it.
Reverse sides and apostille pages often carry stamps.
ISD, an embassy or a university each have their own checklist.
We quote courier delivery outside Ireland up front.
Ukrainian-language pages follow our Ukrainian service.
These are the Russian-language records we translate most often for use in Ireland. If yours is not listed, send a photo and we will confirm.
Four steps, all handled online. You never need to post us your originals.
Upload clear scans or phone photos of every page, plus the passport page showing your name in Latin letters.
We reply with an estimated price and delivery time, usually within about 15 minutes during opening hours.
A native Russian-speaking translator works on the file, then a second check compares names, numbers and dates with the original.
You get a signed PDF by email, and paper copies by post anywhere in Ireland or by courier abroad if needed.
Below are short extracts from three typical documents. All names, numbers and dates are sample data, not from any real client.
Send us a photo of the Russian document and we will tell you what the English version will include before you pay.
Every Russian to English order comes with the same set of essentials.
Every line, stamp, seal and handwritten note is rendered, with nothing summarised or left out.
Signed and dated by the translator, with name, occupation, address and phone number as ISD describes.
Cyrillic names written exactly as on the passport you submit, on every page.
Any apostille attached to the document is included in the same translation.
PDF by email, plus paper copies posted in Ireland or couriered abroad.
If an authority queries a detail, we correct and reissue at no charge.
Most Russian certificates fall into the standard band. Longer documents such as diplomas with supplements, or multi-page bank statements, are quoted by length.

Our translators are affiliated with the Irish Translators' and Interpreters' Association.

Certificates written in Ukrainian rather than Russian are covered by our certified Ukrainian translation service, so check which language your document uses before ordering. If you need a birth record from any country turned into English, see our page on translating a foreign birth certificate. Visa applicants sending bank statements and civil records together may find our Irish visa document translation guide useful.
Russian police certificates are explained on our police clearance translation page. When an Irish document has to be used in Russia or elsewhere abroad, we can arrange DFA apostille and legalisation alongside the notary step.
